The Hunt
Nature. Culture. Kill
The hunter’s eyes – bifocal vision – the same eyes as all predators have.Yet the esthetic superiority of the dead animal to the live one belongs to the mapless wilderness that was the original world. But the hunter has separated himself from the final confrontation. He is killing from a distance using a weapon that changes the interaction between human and wild beast. The Beast which was hidden and invisible before is transformed through notch and beed into a two dimensional technical image and cropped out of his own world. Blinded on one eye and in a splitsecond the hunter is performing the final act – destroying the wild beast and making it his own.
But someday the dying eyes will be the eyes of the hunter – a human animal that has to do what all life does. Playing a game that must be played – and the worms will feed on his dead corpse while the birds will sing their songs.
The wait is long and the forest is on the move.
