Defining the 21st Century Explorer

There are no blank spots on the planet’s maps any more. However, the fascination for exploration and the explorer’s identity continues. We have investigated the contemporary image of remote landscapes, drafted exploration stories and defined an appropriate understanding of the explorers role and identity in the 21st century during a two weeks expedition to the Arctic Circle in Finland.

This project was a collaboration with the department of Media, Trend & Public Apperance (Prof. Christine Hill and Felix Sattler) at Bauhaus University and the department of Fineart (Dr. Juha Suonpää) at TAMK University, Tampere (Finland)..
